What Are oil Paintings?

We need to know that all the paints are a mixture of dry pigments and some liquid. An oil paint consists of a pigment mixed with linseed oil which dries up during air oxidation. Linseed oil absorbs oxygen from the air and crystallises the pigment of the paint on an ongoing basis. When the oil dries it can no longer be removed.
Oil paints have a thick consistency. They are squeezed out onto a palette, and mixed with a palette knife to obtain new shades. Then the resulting paint is applied with hard brushes to the vertically placed canvas.

Oil paints get dry for a long time. Normally you need to wait for at least three days to apply another layer of paint. This process has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Advantage: you have enough time to think your work over. In case you are unhappy with what you have done, the paint can be scraped off with a rag, palette knife or rubber scraper while it is still damp. Now, you can paint again.
Disadvantage: if you apply two damp paints of different colours too close, they can mess with each other inaccurately.

Oil Paintings

In the times of classical art a student who wanted to be an artist first became an apprentice in the artist's studio, studied materials for a year, and then 6 years later learned to rub pigments, make up paints and priming. Nowadays all this is unnecessary because paints are made of chemical materials.
Oil gives incommensurably more technical opportunities to the painter than other techniques. The man in the street thinks oil paintings more impressive and respectable.

Oil Paintings

Oil paintings can have countless techniques and motifs: girls with flowers, portraits, fruit and flower vases, lyrical landscapes, nocturnes and etudes, grandiose compositions, and tiny miniatures. All this diversity fills our life with special colours.
