Museum of Saint Petersburg Art of the 20th & 21st centuries is a repository of a unique collection that can be called a gem of the Northern Capital. The museum is located in the historical centre of the city on the embankment of the Griboedov Canal, a two-minute walk from the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral of the Epiphany, the Yusupov Palace and other famous sights of St. Petersburg.
Museum of Saint Petersburg Art of the 20th & 21st centuries is the result of 25-year-old work of the employees of the central exhibition hall "Manege". Over the years they have collected works by St. Petersburg artists. At last, all these works can be appreciated in the cultural centre (there are more than 3000 pieces now).

The building which houses the Museum of Art, has three sites:

- The Small Hall (ground floor);
- The «Graphic Study» (I floor);
- The Big Hall (II floor).

Museum of Art has most recently opened in the Small Hall of the Manege. In it there are the best works of the Northern capital's artists and sculptors who have worked throughout the last century as well as our contemporaries who are appreciated by true connoisseurs of art nowadays.

The idea of opening a museum of art appeared in 1990. The government of the Northern Capital spent 25 years allocating money for the purchase of works by contemporary artists. However, the issue of allocating the premises was resolved by the authorities only last year. The museum received a legal address on the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal in the Small Hall of the Manege.
The collection of the museum presents the art of St. Petersburg of the 20th-21st centuries from 1910 to the present day. The works of the association "Circle of Artists" are widely represented by, for example, such Soviet classics as Alexey Pakhomov, Alexander Vedernikov, Vladimir Lebedev. The paintings were purchased from the heirs and passed approval through the expert council under the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg. There are also many works of contemporary artists in the museum.
